Arthur Durkee

  ad-Arthur Durkee: Arthur Durkee

Arthur Durkee is a musician, poet, photographer, and artist currently living in and working in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has recently been a featured poet and performer for reading series at Twin Cities venues such as the Stone Arch Bridge Festival, Sursumcorda, and Bean Counter Coffee. Arthur primarily plays Chapman Stick and frame drums with ensembles in both Minneapolis and Madison, Wisconsin, including poetry/music improvisers Dangerous Odds and world-music-inspired jazz band The Barbaric Yawps. His new band, Wind, Sand & Stars, a duo with electronic drummer Eddie Estrin, is making a name for itself around the Twin Cities with recent gigs at art fairs, galleries, and coffee houses; a CD of improvisational instrumental jazz/experimental music is due to be released this summer.

Some of the images shown here are cards from an oracle deck currently being designed and illustrated, entitled Spiral Dance. Like his artwork, Arthur's poetry and music have all been described as visionary, shamanic, or spiritual art, and creative explorations of the transformative vision.
